Traveling Wilbury's twisting

The Traveling Wilburys' have released their second album called Volume III.

Confusion. Volume III is dedicated to the late Lefty Wilbury (Roy Orbison) and features historic recording artists Spike Wilbury (George Harrison), Muddy Wilbury (Tom Petty), Clayton Wilbury (Jeff Lynne) and Boo Wilbury (Bob Dylan).

This up-beat, mostly acoustic album, was produced by ex-Beatle George Harrison and former Electric Light Orchestra pilot Jeff Lynne. It brings about a very ELO-ish sound. Volume III is very diverse and quite enjoyable.

Two songs that go slightly beyond the acoustics to possess some fuzz-guitar include "She's My Baby" and "Wilbury Twist." Hard rocker Gary Moore is the supplier of the heavy axe-wielding on "She's My Baby." Two other songs worth mentioning are "7 Deadly Sins," a '50s hinting ballad, and "Poor House," featuring a slide guitar to give it a country flavor.

The only thing that bothers me about this album is that Dylan and Petty (Sir Nasal and Mr. Monotone) sing lead on the entire album. Surely the voices of Harrison and Lynne are easier on the ear. None the less, Volume III is entertaining and available at Homer's Music and Gifts in the Old Market.
